Review:  What a sincerely interesting find while scrolling through the new additions.  This British film is loosely based on the old “Alice In Wonderland” tale and puts our main heroine Alice (Grace) in the underground English gangster world.  She has no recollection of who she is or what she was doing before being hit by cab driver Whitey (Dyer), who is late.  Late for a very important date that is.  Whitey has to find the perfect gift for a local head gangster who is looking for a team to be involved in a very lucrative heist job.  As you can see all the characters are worked into the script but only with subtle hints to the character they are based on. For instance, Whitey has a white rabbit’s foot hanging from his rearview mirror.  My favorite was the drug dealing Caterpiller who gives Alice a ride and only talked in infectious rhymes.  It was such a unique take on such an overused story it seemed totally new, but you still had the general back story of Alice being stuck in a situation that is unfamiliar to her.  Mix in quirky British humor and charming British actors and you have an inventive new take on “Alice In Wonderland” involving the British underworld.  It’s a very visually striking movie using many bright colors and flashy camera work making it seem somewhat like an extremely long music video at times, but its worth the watch in my eyes.  If you’ve got nothing better going on and want to stream a good movie, give it a try.  British humor is some of the best humor in my eyes, and Malice In Wonderland is all about quick wit and catchy phrasing.
